I am a 1978 graduate of Yazoo City High School. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1982 from Mississippi Valley State University. I furthered my education by receiving my Master's in Special Education in 2019 from Grand Canyon University. I hold a State of Mississippi license with endorsements in Elementary Education (4-6) and Mild/Moderate Disabilities (K-12). I worked in Monroe, LA Public School District for two years and in Yazoo County School District for 21 years. One of my lifelong dreams has always been to become a teacher; therefore, as a teacher, I want to initiate positive interactive relationships with families and work with colleagues to improve our educational environment.
My Philosophy of Education: All children can learn. Each child should have an equal opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to achieve in life. My responsibility as a teacher is to provide students with multiple paths needed to learn central concepts in each subject. If I want to help my students become self-sufficient in the world, I must be an effective teacher, have a love for children, and encourage them and help them to believe in themselves.
On this journey, I carry with me one of my favorite Bible Verses: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.
