Welcome to my webpage.  I am married with 6 children and 5 grandchildren.

I am currently an Inclusion/ Resource Teacher at Bentonia Gibbs Elementary. I'm certified in Special Education, Elementary Education and Remedial Reading K-12.  I am also a National Board Certified Teacher - Early Childhood Generalist. I also a Brainspring Orton-Gillingham Certified Dyslexia Specialist. I have been teaching for over 20 years.  I have taught everything from Kindergarten through 5th grade.  

Here's my "why": I struggled early on in school because English is my second language. My teachers were not equipped to teach me so I had to teach myself basic reading skills. Once I was able to build a good foundation, I did well in middle school and high school. It was a struggle, but I caught up and graduated top 5% of my high school class. This fuels my passion to help others as a teacher. I love teaching because I’m able to make a difference and prevent students from struggling the way that I did. No child at any school should have to fight for their education alone. I enjoy teaching elementary students. They have a sense of wonder and curiosity, which can give them an opportunity to grow so much and learn so fast. I want all of my students to have the foundation that I had to build alone. I want to help all my students to reach their personal educational goals.

I especially enjoy the community of Bentonia Gibbs.  I love the people and the students that they share with us.  I'm blessed to be here.
